SIDI CHRISTEN
Sidi spielt seit seinem 6. Lebensjahr so alles was Tasten hat und verrückte Töne macht. Sein erstes Konzert in der 5. Klasse mit einer Schülerband hat er auf einer elektrisch angetriebenen Bontempi-Orgel und einem Saugnapf-Tonabnehmer absolviert! Hat sich in den 80er Jahren dem Funk und Jazz-Rock verschrieben und dabei in einigen (ein paar hartgesottenen Insidern bekannten) Berner Formationen (Penthouse, ToBe/Venise, Katakombo) mitgespielt. In dieser Zeit war er als Amateur auch für ein paar Jahre an der Swiss Jazz School in Bern (Günther Kühlwein, Robert Morgenthaler) und hat das Klavier etwas genauer unter die Finger genommen. In den 90er Jahren ist er dann nach Australien und in die USA ausgewandert und hat dort in lokalen Bands und Produktionen mitgewirkt (Lupi, Terry Marshall, Uptown Rulers, O’Mystics) und seinen musikalischen, kulturellen und vor allem kulinarischen Horizont erweitert. Nach seiner Rückkehr in die Schweiz und einer längeren Phase der Abstinenz und Babypause, hat in ihm unaufhörlich der Wunsch gegärt, sich vermehrt den traditionellen Instrumenten und Sounds des elektronischen Jazz und R&B widmen zu dürfen: Fender Rhodes, Hammond/Leslie, Hohner Clavinet, sowie Synthie-Sounds der 80er Jahre und früher. Dieser Wunsch ist dann durch einen Telefonanruf des ehemaligen Bassisten in Erfüllung gegangen: Fortan waren die Gielen mit der Band F.I.B./ Cheap Corea wieder unterwegs und haben diverse Kellergewölbe und Beizenlokale zum Schwitzen gebracht. Die Frage des Stils und der Übungsmoral hat dann auch hier nach ein paar Jahren dem Ganzen einen Schlussstrich gesetzt um Neues zu erschaffen: Ein Home-Recording Projekt-Studio (Stonemeadows) und seit Neuem als Mitglied der funky, jazzy, groovy Triple-T Band!
Sidi has been playing pretty much everything that has keys and makes crazy tones since he was 6 years old. His first concert in 5th grade in a school band, he performed on an electric motor-driven Bontempi organ and a suction pickup! In the 1980s, he fell in love with the funk and jazz rock and played in different Bernese formations (Penthouse, ToBe / Venise, Katakombo) known to the initiated fan. During this time, he trained for a few years as an amateur musician at the Swiss Jazz School in Bern (Günther Kühlwein, Robert Morgenthaler) and has explored the piano a bit closer. In the 1990s, he emigrated to Australia and the USA, where he was involved in several local bands and productions (Lupi, Terry Marshall, Uptown Rulers, O'Mystics) and expanded his musical, cultural and, above all, culinary horizons. After his return to Switzerland and a long period of abstinence and parental leave, the desire was mounting in himself to increasingly devote himself to the traditional instruments and sounds employed in electronic jazz and R&B: Fender Rhodes, Hammond Organ/Leslie, Hohner Clavinet, and synth sounds of the 1980s and earlier (Moog, polysynths). This wish finally came true through a phone call from a former bass player: The boys were on the road again with the band FIB / Cheap Corea and turned various cellars and concert halls into a throbbing steam bath. Difference in opinion on musical style and practice morality has eventually pulled the plug on this project, but led to the creation of new ones: A project recording studio (Stone Meadows) and as a new member of the funky, jazzy, groovy Triple-T band!
